PRESS RELEASE

17-20 July 2026

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Kasane, Botswana — Echoes of the Wild is proud to announce the upcoming Echoes of the Wild – Kasane Weekender 2026, a destination event created to bring together music, safari, culture, film, comedy, poetry, art, fashion, wellness, sport, food, creative business and African storytelling in one unforgettable experience.

Taking place in Kasane, Botswana, from 16–20 July 2026, the Kasane Weekender is designed as a regional African gathering that celebrates Botswana while opening its doors to artists, creatives, tourists, brands, partners and cultural communities from across SADC,  the African continent and the world.

Echoes of the Wild is a Botswana-born music, safari, culture and creative tourism platform created to give creatives an opportunity to perform, showcase their work, connect with audiences and become part of the tourism economy. The platform was built around the belief that tourism must not only be about animals, landscapes and photographs, but also about the people, cultures, stories, sounds, food, art and creativity that make Africa unique.

For many years, Kasane and the Chobe region have been known for wildlife tourism, game drives, boat cruises and beautiful natural landscapes. Echoes of the Wild seeks to close the gap between safari tourism and African entertainment by giving tourists a fuller experience of Botswana and the region — one that includes music, dance, comedy, poetry, film, fashion, traditional food, cultural showcases, creative markets and community experiences.

“Tourists should not only come to Botswana to see animals and leave. They must also experience our people, our music, our food, our creativity, our cultures and our stories. Africa’s greatest attraction is not only its wildlife — it is also its people.”
ECHOES OF THE WILD TEAM

The Kasane Weekender will feature a wide range of activities, including a Creative Business Workshop, Short Film Showcase, Comedy and Poetry Night, music festival, cultural and tribal performances, art exhibitions, fashion and craft stalls, health and wellness experiences, sports viewing, traditional games, 4x4 off-road safari lifestyle showcases, food village, Chobe game drives, Chobe River boat cruises and optional regional tourism activities.

Beyond the safari.

The event will give football and soccer fans an opportunity to enjoy the World Cup third-place play-off and final live on big screens during the Kasane Weekender. This adds another exciting layer to the event, bringing together sport, music, safari, culture and community in one destination weekend.

The theme for the Kasane Weekender is African Outdoors, Safari, Luxury Safari and Tribal Attire. Guests are encouraged to come dressed in safari-inspired fashion, African prints, tribal wear, earthy tones, luxury outdoor looks and creative African styling that celebrates the beauty of the wilderness and the richness of African identity.

The event will also feature a wide variety of traditional dishes and African cuisine, giving guests a taste of Botswana and the region through food, fire, flavour and culture. From traditional Botswana meals to regional African dishes, the food experience will form an important part of the Kasane Weekender, allowing visitors to experience Africa not only through music and safari, but also through taste, storytelling and community.

Guests can also look forward to interactive art experiences spearheaded by the ArtLab , including art exercises where Echoes Tribe members can paint their own tote bags, enjoy colouring activities and participate in creative expression sessions. The weekend will include creative stalls, fashion, craft, local products, off-road safari experiences, massage and wellness services, film screenings, comedy, poetry, music, cultural performances and outdoor lifestyle showcases.

The Short Film Showcase will create a platform for Botswana and African filmmakers to share stories through film, while the Comedy and Poetry Night will celebrate humour, spoken word, storytelling and African expression.

Creativity is the new economy.

Echoes of the Wild believes the creative economy is the new economy. Across Africa, music, film, fashion, digital content, comedy, events, art, food, tourism and culture are creating new opportunities for young people, SMMEs, artists, performers, vendors, producers and entrepreneurs. The Kasane Weekender is part of a growing movement to make creativity a serious part of economic development.

The event also seeks to make tourism more inclusive. In many parts of Africa, tourism is often seen as expensive and mainly designed for older travellers, retirees or international visitors with large budgets. Echoes of the Wild is working to change that by creating destination experiences that attract young people, budget travellers, backpackers, music lovers, creatives, families and regional travellers.

As Botswana continues to diversify beyond diamonds, Echoes of the Wild believes creative tourism can help create employment, support youth enterprise, promote local talent, grow domestic and regional travel, and position Botswana as a destination where safari meets African entertainment.

The Kasane Weekender will welcome talent and participation from Botswana, SADC, African countries, and internationally creating a platform for cultural exchange, regional collaboration and African creative excellence.

Plan the journey.

Tickets will not be sold at the venue, and the Echoes Tribe is encouraged to purchase tickets online early to avoid disappointment at the gate. All event tickets are available on the Echoes of the Wild website.

There are various packages available, including travel packages with transport from Gaborone and along the A1 route, three nights’ accommodation, game drive, boat cruise and event access included. Event-only tickets are also available for guests who wish to arrange their own travel and accommodation.

The Kasane Weekender promises to be one of the most exciting destination weekends in the region — a place where African music meets safari, where sport meets culture, where creativity meets tourism, and where people come together to experience Botswana and Africa in a new way.

The wilderness is loud. So are we.
